CDC Monthly Menus

All DLA Child Development Center’s participate in the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). No child will be discriminated against because of race, color, national origin, age, or handicap. If any member of a household believes that they have been discriminated against, they should contact the Equal Opportunity Officer at 209-839-4014.

Regulatory requirements state that nutritious foods help meet the child’s total nutritional needs will be served in all Child and Youth Programs. Weekly menus are posted in the CDC lobby, and nutritional guides are available upon request. The San Joaquin Child Development Center serves breakfast, lunch, and snack in a family style setting daily with children. Family style dining encourages children to help in age appropriate ways such as making table decorations, cleaning and setting the table, carrying serving containers and utensils to the table, and washing hands and face before and after the meal. Children experience independence and responsibility, expand language and thinking skills, develop social skills with adults and children, develop fine motor skills, and develop good eating habits that will last a lifetime. The most important aspect of family style dining is the children have a feeling of “family unity and acceptance” that is essential to their emotional development.
